If you are in the market for a pair of contact lenses, and you have never sported this type of vision correction tool in the past, you may wonder what you should expect during your contact lens fitting appointment. Contact Chapel Hills Vision Clinic in Colorado Spring to make an appointment with our optometrist to have this procedure done. Here is some information about the processes we use during a contact lens fitting examination.

Your History Is Discussed

Bring along any pertinent information about previous trips to eye doctors so that we have a history available to reflect upon before your examination if possible. We will ask you questions about your current vision and any trouble you are experiencing with your eyes so that they can be addressed as needed.

Your Prescription Is Determined

We will ask you to read a series of numbers and letters provided to you on a chart while you are not wearing corrective lenses. We will then use glass plates to tweak the sharpness of these images to help determine the prescription strength you require for your new contact lenses. This examination is non-invasive and is done in the comfort of our office.

Your Measurements Are Taken

The circumferences of your irises need to be measured so that the contact lenses you obtain are a perfect fit. To measure these, we will have you look into a piece of equipment while our practitioner looks at your eyes from the other side. This is a fast and easy test that is necessary so your contact lenses do not slide out of place.

You Will Learn Contact Lens Care

We will provide you with a set of contact lenses to try on so that we can check that the sizing and prescription meet your needs. We will also give you lessons on how to insert, remove, and care for your new corrective lenses.
